My son is an energetic and curious eight-year-old boy. Like many kids, he absolutely loves toys. However, we quickly noticed a pattern: a toy that brought pure joy on Monday would often be forgotten in a corner by the weekend. Year after year, toys kept piling up, leaving my husband and me frustrated by the wasted money and cluttered living space.
When my son was diagnosed with ADHD, everything clicked. His brain simply craved quick engagement, fresh stimulation, and novelty. He is starting shifting his interest from toys to screen time which brings him high excitement but leads to increased inattention.
As an architect and an environmental engineer, my husband and I knew there had to be a smarter, healthier, and more sustainable way to support his growth. The traditional “buy-only” toy model encourages endless consumption, generates immense plastic waste, and burdens families with overcrowded homes and rising expenses.
That’s how Toy Checkout Inc. was born. Combining our design and environmental expertise, we created a hybrid buy and rent model “Rent the Fun, Buy the Favorites” tailored for modern Canadian families. We didn't just start a business; we built a supportive community for parents who want more choice, less clutter, and a greener future for their children.
